Somehow a client's Google listing got marked as a duplicate. They aren't able to to figure it out. I requested access from the current owner of the listing. There was no response. I now have the option to verify the listing, but I'm not able to do that. It provides phone as the verification method, but only a text message. The call option is grayed out and won't let me select. The business phone number is a landline, so the text option won't work. It tells me to try a different option, but there is no other option to select.
I've reached out to Google through their form. I get a reply that they can't help because the listing is not verified! I reply saying I can't verify the listing, but no response.
I also posted on the Google Business Profile community but my thread was taken down because of "irrelevant content." I included a screenshot that showed the business phone number and how the only option available was text message. Maybe that's considered irrelevant content? I don't know.
