"Explore" feature in new Google maps makes some interesting recommendations

Remember the mass collection of business records Google did to create all those map listings? Looks like the "Explore" feature is dredging some of them up. Seems the matching algorithm needs some work as well. Exploring "Bakeries" near my house brought me a neighbor that used to run a bake shop out of her home, and a doggie bakery.

While it looks like the "Explore" feature is limited to eating and drinking at the moment, this should remind everyone to check your GMB categories, old listings, etc. on Google Maps.

If you aren't a Google Local Guide (SEO or business owner), it's time to get mapping and clean up any messes clogging up your own map results positioning.
