This is new to me. It appears that there are now additional options when reporting a business in Google Maps.

Anyone else seeing this? What do you think?

Nice find, Colan. It does look like that toggle feature (at the top of the display) is new.

Yes! I saw those yesterday when I wanted to report someone who was not hiding their address when they worked from home. But I wasn't sure which box to check. Private?

That is very exciting indeed.

Good coverage in the post, Colan.

I find it interesting that Google doesn't even make you sign into a Google account to leave feedback. (I just reported a duplicate listing without signing in.)

BTW, the reCAPTCHA on the Imprezzio blog seems to be broken. Tried to leave a comment on there, but couldn't.

Thanks Phil! I didn't realize you could leave feedback if you aren't signed-in. Good to know.

I think they may be doing some quality control here. Taking a page out of the market research book, they may be trying to find the biggest flaw via user responses then work to create a solution for users. At least that's what I would use this data for if I was on the receiving end of it.

It would be Spam if verified listing.

Thanks Andrew - only just saw this. I have been reluctant to 'dob people in' for showing their home address but these are guys who are marketing themselves as SEO specialists and taking up 3 of the 7 pack.

I think the time has come!

I agree with you Jo. I think a lot of business owners who are SAB's don't even realize that they aren't set-up with proper service area settings. So I usually give the benefit of the doubt.

However, I also agree with you that I would submit the report if there were other factors that made it pretty clear that they were purposefully spamming.

If its a verified listing then its purposeful spamming. Otherwise its just spam, either way it violates the rules and is properly removed as such.

If it's a verified listing, most likely purposeful, yes. But not always. And I don't think messing up on the settings in the dashboard is cause for listing removal.
