I have clients in the UK too and I agree it's tough right now. Marketing spend is often the first thing to be cut in the time of recession, and although we aren't technically in one right now, it definitely feels like it!
That sounds about right. The other Profile is more established/familiar to Google. It's good they show it in Amsterdam, I'd say this is working as intended.
I see both Profiles when I run a brand search spoofing Google into thinking my location is Amsterdam - with the newer Profile in position 1 GewoonGers I'm thinking all those descriptors will be helping.
It's a great idea but I very much doubt it. it's hard enough to get a reply to enquiries about LSA's from Support, let alone to have the facility to test something so you can potentially extoll the virtues of the product to your network.
My sense is that your reading of the GBP guidelines is right, and that your client should focus on one listing only.
