Assuming the 301 redirect went smoothly, I think you will have no problem. We made a similar change when we rebranded our company and the authority was passed on to the new website with ease.

In our experience with one of our clients, they hover on the bottom of page 1 without SSL. As soon as we activated their SSL via Let's Encrypt on their hosting account, their rankings improve to top 3-5.
