Background

Client has an existing google local page, ranking great, created under google local places. Email used to create the account holds many 'other' business accounts under it.

Question 1

- Is it OK to create a google+ personal profile under a different email, set it up, and than link authorship to the website?

Question 2

- I assume I should NOT create and merge a google+ business page under this "separate" email/new google+ profile right?

Answer to question 1: Yes, it's OK to create a "personal" Google+ page using a different email address from the one you used to set up Google Places. Not sure why you'd want to, but it won't gum things up.

Answer to question 2: Correct: your Google Places and Google+ for Business pages need to be in the same Google account.
