Verification "issues", Suspensions, and ranking drops are very different things. You're going to need 3 distinct lists. Are you mainly concerned about suspensions?

It wont help your GBP ranking. Might rank your site on page 1 for local though, but many people dont scroll past the local pack anyway

I ignore bing as well. Not worth it unless you're in a category with VERY HIGH search volume.

Why would there be a black mark connected to your name?

I wonder if verification is somehow a trust factor with google maps that causes them to rank you higher. Just brainstorming why your colleague would come to this conclusion.

Is it possible that the checkmark increases CTR which over time increases ranking?

the consensus in this thread was that it if you have a business with a visible address, and you hide the address, the ranking drops (Sterling Sky's / @JoyHawkins conclusion) . Or at least that SABs are harder to rank than visible address businesses. I'm asking if that is still the case.

Here we are almost a year later, I still think this is true. But some of my colleagues tell me it doesn't matter one way or another these days. Haven't seen this issue re-raised in 2025 yet on this forum. Opinions?
