Interesting but I submit that if they were not really looking for a personal injury attorney the results from this test are anecdotal at best and don't really prove anything except where people who are participating in a study like to click.
What I'd like to know is what gets the most clicks...
Let's face it, pretty much anything we do "off site" is an attempt to manipulate the search results. The question is how and what you are doing it.
I don't really link build off site. I find that having the clients web site properly structured and optimized goes a LONG WAY in the rankings.
I'm now very confused.
I have some clients but one in particular that isn't anywhere near the cluster displayed by Google on the map and is actually 15 or so miles south of the cluster; sitting there all by itself but it ranks B for the main keyword City + Roofing. Additionally the NAP isn't...
To sort of toot my own horn, I have my product called ReviewSentry which you put on a sub domain for your client. It's a mitigation system that filters negative reviews into your clients inbox and delivers an SMS message that a review was submitted. On the other side, if the customer has a great...
I just stick with the major authority directories and if there are any highly relevant sites to my clients niche I'll consider putting citations there. This way I avoid all the time researching. Just my two cents.

As for home based businesses, many municipalities don't require them to post signage and charge extra if the owner wants a sign. Additionally many areas have covenants that...
Multiple locations? One word, sub-domains. Forget directories or additional pages.
Why I don't see all the "experts" not pointing any fingers here taking advantage of the power of sub domains is way beyond me. I use them exclusively with local clients, zero problems, and ranking is so easy its...
It's getting more stupid every day, seriously!
My dentist has his practice in a high rise building, ZERO signage for obvious reasons. So is Google taking the time to park the car, get out, go into the building, find the building directory to see if the practice is named there?
and...

This is great news! I wonder Google has changed their position on displaying local places results in the organics for the SEO industry.
I got the same results with some of the marketing based search phrases but no plus listing results for anything with SEO in it for my local market.
All the Google responses are is just code for, we actually lost all that data in our databases and we don't have the intestinal fortitude to admit it.
I was born at night Google, but not LAST night!
