There were some ppl doing tests a few years back where they used their apple maps url in their GMB profile, rather than their own url, and ranked higher, though it's not/wasn't exactly kosher TOS-wise.
Testing is the only thing you can do.
That's horrible advice.
Respond to every review.
Might some of the previous reviewers have decided to change their life goals and by extension, be full of hate? So what?
Google isn't interested in a business providing psychiatric advice, unless their in the psychiatric field.
While I hate Google, I'm a huge fan of ads. Let's face it:
1) People no longer have an attention span. 2) SERPS are shrinking. 3) Mobile.
Ads should be placed in the category of SEO, for local.
I'm going to say it again: reviews are far less meaningful for rank than people continue on about and Barry had a comment from Muller on his website several months back, questioning 5 star aggregate profiles.
The answer you're looking for is customized, targeted location/city pages. However...
Yeah that's the thing. Many sites copy other website content, rewrite just a tad, and publish. Some simply scrape word for word and publish. The interesting thing regarding local sites, is many that have done this, rank very well, even using dup content.
Over the years I've had a few clients...
Just do a search.
If keywords in the url didn't influence rank, why are there so many on the first page? Coincidence?
On one two word search (service city) with 8 organic listings, five included the city name. and five included the service name.
