Just wanted to share some interesting findings that apply to all kinds of publishers and especially to news publishers.
--Characteristics of low quality articles
Content with grammar/syntax errors
Facts are untrue
Content is copied from elsewhere (unless it is syndicated)
Title is misleading
Content length is not enough
Topic is unrelated to the website's usual subject
Disturbing ads
Ads that mess with user experience
--For YMYL topics (i.e. medical, law, finance) website should have clear contact details and information about who wrote the article (author bio).
--High quality news publishers typically have an editorial policy - example: Guidelines
--High quality articles include original, in-depth and investigative reporting. Author information is mandatory. Examples:
https://projects.tampabay.com/projects/2021/investigations/lead-factory/gopher-workers/https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2005-sep-25-me-getty25-story.html
Hope it helps.
