Wordpress template for business company

First of all :

Has been 2 years im not doing this so I prefer to ask. Im reading a lot of stuffs and need some expert that point me out.

I need to build a website for my company, we offer a lot of services for industrial cleaning and waste management, so Im looking for a wordpress template that offer good graphical view of all my stuffs.

We offer those services in our town but also in a 200km range

So far what I've understood that I need :

- Some templates are slow so I need something fast with less requests

- Should be Html5 so I can also use multiples H1 ( saw this tip from someone ), well then I also think google maybe rewards who use html5 ? But this is not me speaking

- Most important is that template is good for seo, I dont trust reviews online so anyone can point me a worpdpress template that ranked 1st in google , even with good competition ?

I know all other stuffs like content etc. that is already done, prepared, structured as Seo request etc but time ago I installed a wordpress theme for another project that was crap even if had good reviews on themeforest, and so it kinda penalized my work on google. Page was slow loading even with all tips and tricks etc.

So maybe its better I ask experts for some advice.

Yes I would not use one of those themes, but I'm out of the WP loop these days so don't have anything to recommend off the top of my head.

It's a Holiday here in the states so lots may be off today. Hopefully someone will have some ideas for you soon.

Btw I use wordpress cause I know only this.

I know content is king, but I also seen myself that a bad template doesnt help if has :

- slow site speed, bad code, too many file requests, some addons kills the site etc etc.
- seo not optimized, too much crap code everywhere etc.

In my last 8 years I used :

- Avada ( too much code and full of stuffs u dont need ) , kinda impossible to optimize it to 100%, but got many templates to picks if you dont wanna spend time to develop yours.

- Smallbiz ( I got 2 sites with this, and it rocks, but aint good looking if you got a lot of content to add ) and basically im not good with graphic and coding so I've to use template premade, and smallbiz doesnt look attractive on that way. Fast as hell and would reccomend it if you dont have many services to offer.

Genesis frameworks are typically good - studiopress and the likes.

I use Divi for quick projects, but that gets extremely frustrating if you want to do some serious custom coding. I also use Thrive Themes for landing pages if i'm not using Divi. I'm rebuilding some personal sites in Thrive now. I like them for their lead generation plugins.

If you don't want to do a lot of coding and just want a bunch of nice looking premade templates, then I would check out Divi. Easy to understand after you get used to the dashboard look, and has a ton of pre-built features. One major word of warning on Divi is that it is short-code dependent. If you ever plan on switching it will be a nightmare.

Thrive has gotten better, so you could switch away from thrive landing pages at some point in the future. Their themes are OK, so it depends how much time you want to spend developing individual pages. Their visual builder is fantastic though, so again it all depends what the scope of your project is.

Those are my two favorites. They're also very well supported, so if you have issues there is always someone from their team able to help within a day or two.

I was going to recommend Smallbiz, as in the past I've seen some nice sites ranking super high. And it's owned by Don Campbell who is a local search expert. But I checked and it's no longer for sale. (But is still being supported so don't worry about your existing sites.)

I did a little study always for the choice of the template, looking for the first sites on google for the most difficult keywork in the biggest American cities.


I thought: "if they are first then they are valid"


Everywhere I read about having fast sites etc

Instead I find that these first sites on google, have some embarrasing results :

- 12 seconds to load the page
- gt metrix D and F
- 200 file requests
- page size 8mb etc

I understand that there are many other factors, indeed many, but seeing those results then what should I think for all those who preach "fast site" etc

What do you think ?

Page load speed is one of the many ranking factors. You're overthinking this. When in doubt of what to in terms of improving your website, ask yourself how the changes you're doing help the user experience.
