Hi guys,
I just wanted to share this mini study on the impact of zip codes and proximity on local rankings:
How Proximity Impacts Law Firm Rankings in Google Juris Digital
Enjoy!
Hi everyone,
I'm just curious to see what everyone's thoughts are on how Google's AMP could factor into local search in the future. So far, it's mostly geared toward large publishers. However, this article mentions some of the plans for the future of the AMP project, including local listings...
Interesting. When I set the search location to Boulder, CO in BrightLocal's results checker tool, rather than just searching by city name, I don't get a one-box. I'm trying to replicate it with another business, but I can't quite get the same scale. If I do "McDonalds Golden CO" I get a one-box...
Since I'm not a freelancer, I don't deal with some of the most common problems, but there are a few things I wish I would have done a little differently.
First off, I would have turned to the community much earlier. It may be embarrassing to realize that I've asked a stupid question, or made an...
Hi there,
That isn't your issue. Updating the name as you mentioned wouldn't likely do anything at all. If you search for your business' phone number in Map Maker, you will see two listings, just like in Maps:
Google Map Maker
Google Map Maker
If the duplicate were unverified, you could...
Lots of good thoughts here. Cody, I'm glad you mentioned that you considered the age of a domain. This seems so obvious, but since I usually work with clients who have come on with a fairly young branded domain, I never would have considered this when purchasing a new one.
It would be...
Thanks for the insight Justin. I really like that approach. It sounds somewhat similar to what we do, except that we start with Yext as a basis and expand from there. It really allows us to find and focus on the most important citations for each individual client.
I've sometimes found myself...
Thanks Colan! I would definitely agree with that. But just to play devil's advocate for a second, I occasionally look at some of these top 50 lists and wonder just how important some of those are. Obviously they're important enough to make the top 50, but are 50 citations on these very general...
Hi everyone,
I'd like to have a partly theoretical and partly practical discussion about citations from a slightly different perspective. There are a ton of articles out there that list "the most important citations," depending on the opinions and experiences of the writer. My personal favorite...
I think that hits the nail on the head. I haven't personally gone spam-hunting unless I find myself directly faced with spam from a competitor, but when I do, part of me is afraid to report it in Map Maker. I've had my edits denied several times, even when I'm absolutely sure of them, and since...
Hi all,
We were checking some keywords this afternoon and came across something puzzling. For the query "Las Vegas Breast Augmentation" the three pack looks like this:
Positions 1 and 2 make perfect sense, but position 3 is rather wacky. As you can see, Dr. Stuart Linder is not in Las Vegas...
I'd definitely call it a bad practice. While it would be ideal for a business name to include a keyword as part of its official name, keyword stuffing just isn't worth the risk.
Besides that, onsite optimization still has an enormous effect on local search, so I'd rather spend my time writing...
