AI Pricing - Are traditional ranking factors considered in AI responses?

Actually, I have heard recordings of these calls, and Google’s AI is able to navigate phone trees just fine. In one particular example I listened to, it selected 2 for “new customers” and was connected to a representative.

Virtual conferences vs in person. What actually works for you?

With LocalU Global coming up on January 28, I’m curious how people here feel about virtual conferences compared to in person events. What do you genuinely like about virtual conferences? What frustrates you or causes you to disengage? And what do in person events still do better in your...

37% of Toronto GBPs violate Google's TOS

Not surprising, Google is so bad at enforcing it's own policies

TMJ/sleep apnea office - Temporary move

Unless another business moves in and verifies a GBP, it is quite possible Google doesn't notice, but there is always a chance. The main issue would be TMJ clients and them knowing where to go. If the business thinks they can manage that, it may be worth it to just leave it where it is now and...

AI Pricing - Are traditional ranking factors considered in AI responses?

I'm not sure. There is so much that is unknown about the new AI price checker feature on GBP. When I tested it, the three businesses at the top of the email that Google sent me weren't any of the three that appeared in the map pack. I am also not sure how many businesses Google calls, or why it...

Google Verification by Postcard?? What Year Is This?

Update! We got the post card days ago, I put in the pin 2 days ago, the verification is still pending as of now. In my experience, this typically means Google will ask for verification again at some point.

    Article Publish Dates for SEO

I would also update the publish date in the CMS whenever you make an edit. Helps Google know it's revised, fresh content.

    Suspended Conundrum

Tony is right, you need to post on the GBP community forum and ask a PE to help https://support.google.com/business/thread/new If it's been longer than 28 days after the second appeal, you can try to submit a new appeal via that form. First though, do you have signage at this commercial...

Strange Discrepancy Between Search Visibility & Maps Visibility

Perhaps this is an indicator that Google tightened the radius for the businesses it shows in Google Maps. In my experience, Google Maps rankings tend to be more geo-focused on the user’s physical location compared to search. The bright side is that more users rely on search than Maps, so you’re...

Minor Discrepancies in Local Listing Addresses - Big Deal?

The formatting doesn't matter, as long as the address and suite number are correct and match the GBP, you're good!

    Reverification Timeline Question

    Article Publish Dates for SEO

In my experience, updating the published date only has an impact if it’s a post, not a page. There seems to be a negative ranking impact when a post has an old date, which is not a factor for pages. In any case, I think you need to update the published date in the CMS and not rely on the last...

Being Asked to Reverify a Suspended Business Profile?

Nice find Stefan! I like Google’s verification tool, but they really need to add a search feature for those of us using agency accounts to manage Google listings. The tool is a nightmare to use if you have access to hundreds or thousands of listings.

TMJ/sleep apnea office - Temporary move

Sounds tricky indeed! Google does not have a good process for temporary moves. Yes, you will likely be asked to reverify when you change the address on the TMJ listing. Or worse, the profiles could get merged since the businesses will be at the same address, which can confuse Google. To avoid...

Google Verification by Postcard?? What Year Is This?

Yep, an established GBP that was once verified. I am betting Google will ask for another type of verification too once we input the pin.

Google Search Console Now Showing Social Media Traffic

I'm actually seeing this for a client! It's pulling in their YouTube video data - and what I assume means clicks to their site.

Google Verification by Postcard?? What Year Is This?

Honestly, no idea. The profile was verified and claimed using an email the client lost access to, and we had to go through the request ownership form, so maybe that has something to do with it. Or maybe this is a fluke, and Google will ask for another round of verification after we enter the PIN.
