oops - I didn't "speak" with them - it was all via email. But it was quite fast, I think they responded and resolved it within 2 days after I emailed them initially.
I got one a few weeks ago - not the exact issue you're seeing, but an issue with a GMB listing - and in my case, it said the listing itself was no longer available!
I contacted Moz and it was manually resolved when I spoke with them - they said it was potentially from the changes to the GMB...
Hi and Happy New Year to all!
We don't operate a local directory, but we operate a platform that allows local experts to operate a local directory. As folks on this forum well know, a directory by itself does not really do much for your Local SEO in the long term - it needs to be surrounded by...
Darren,
Agreed, I think now we're just splitting hairs. I agree with your focus, my only exception is to the top 46 (or 25). We are still of the opinion that the Top 10 (especially if you do your third and fourth points) covers 99.8% of a local businesses needs. With that said, we haven't...
I will second your (and Phil's) conclusion. We don't have hard data (yet), but we are urging businesses to focus on the "top 10", test the results, and if they think they need more directory lovin' to try the next set of citations. It's hard to believe they make much of a difference, and there...
Eric - all great info, the only one you left out (and perhaps the most important one) is how many of their customers are talking about them on review/feedback sites. There is doing all the things you can do as an owner to influence your visibility, but getting others talking about you is likely...
Something that's important to realize - the time/effort to enter and validate data is obviously hard - that's why very few directory sites do it anymore. So, when you look at the option to do it yourself (expensive and time consuming) or have somebody send you data via an API and PAY YOU TO TAKE...
@Jon, @Eric - sure, just being sensitive about being too salesy.... but here you go:
(1) Beacons are great - but they are very early and will be expensive to deploy at scale. We're willing to sit on the sideline and see how Facebook/Google/Yext/etc. do here. There are certainly concerns about...
Eric,
Verified or trusted reviews/feedback is a great thing. Beacons can be used for this for sure, as well as several other ways to get verified data from customers. It will help a ton. We are working on this, if you want to help, we're happy to have it!! :-)
Regards,
Scott
The way it's been explained to me (which I don't know that I totally understand) is that Moz Local uses both Facebook and G+ to verify listings. If your business is coming up twice, it's because one is G+ and one if FB. Can you confirm that is where the different addresses come from?
Which...
Dan,
Do you think that your work with national brands translates to a single location business? I can absolutely see the benefit of a national brand getting exposure on as many sites as possible, since they want/need exposure much more broadly than a true hyperlocal business. It seems to me...
Phil, we think that Dex/Superpages have recently updated their site(s), and updates on Dex (at least over the past few weeks) has been much better. Are you seeing differently?
Also, definitely interested in why you mention EZLocal, Kudzu, Yellowbook - what do they offer that keeps them on your...
I'm a bit late to the party! Phil, I'd sharpen your list just a bit.
First - Google and the major aggregators (Infogroup/Acxiom/Localeze/Factual) should be prioritized first since a lot of directory sites grab their data from them, so fixing these can "trickle down" to a lot of other sites...
