I have seen a case where the rankings moved 200 miles north to the middle of the desert. The business never had any presence up there. Seems similar to your case. Are your edits still pending? I'd wait a few more days before concluding the change of the service area had no impact.

Ooh! I'd love to investigate this case. Some questions: Has the business ever moved? Is the address that was showing on the profile the same address as where the profile was originally verified? Looking at the listing and the service area, it's very interesting that the rankings have shifted...
