Recently client who had address showing (for a long time so we left it when they became a client) on GBP was suspended. So had to change to hide the address (make SAB) and successfully appealed the suspension. - https://share.google/CrdaDL7FuCKfjFNCT

Yes, it also has keywords in the business name - but ironically - we tried to change to just the business name and when the listing was reinstated - Google put the name back with the keywords included?

Since the address was hidden (on 11/18/25) - the rankings have tanked (for all keywords we’re tracking) - from a lot of green (dots here are set to 3 miles) to full red? - https://static.md/b653159306e0dd930c65bf673f8e0f28.png

I’ve read where this is typical. Any fixes / anyone ever able to recover from this situation - since this listing should be SAB (it’s a residence although it’s zoned as agricultural farmland - and they store all their trucks at the back of their property).
  • Anyone ever able to recover from this situation?

It appears that the rankings are being pulled from the center of the service area vs the address the GBP was verified? - https://static.md/7f627f6372cad7e6e53731aba28e861c.png
  • In this screenshot - the address verified is the GBP icon (little store with G) - and where the grids show green is where Google has the center of the service area?
  • Shouldn’t the ranking be from where the address was verified?

There are plenty of SABs ranking for their target keywords in their area (paving contractor, parking lot paving, etc.) - so assume this is more about a result of showing the address and then hiding it later?

If we added some signage, what’s the chances of being able to get it re-verified with the address showing.
  • From street view (at least at first glance) - it definitely looks like a residence.

Side note (in case it matters) - Somewhere in the process a duplicate listing appeared. Think it was an old listing that was set to closed. When the original listing we managed disappeared. Think this duplicate listing was reopened. I tried removing with suggest an edit (didn’t work) - then a week or so later - the duplicate was gone?

Obviously stumped on this one. Any insights or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

How long had the GBP been reinstated? I have heard it can take two weeks for a reinstated GBP to rank.

If that is not the issue, what address showing?

It was reverified (suspension removed on 11/5/2025) - and actually then the address was put back by Google. Then later Google removed it (on 11/18/25). Pretty confusing since 2 things that are against guidelines (address showing and business name) were put back as they were (after suspension was removed).

Ooh! I'd love to investigate this case. Some questions:
  1. Has the business ever moved?
  2. Is the address that was showing on the profile the same address as where the profile was originally verified?
Looking at the listing and the service area, it's very interesting that the rankings have shifted to the center point of the service area.

Could you please try setting the service area to be a smaller radius of just a handful of zip codes around where the address used to be? Then wait a couple days and run some more grids. I'm so curious to see if that changes where the business ranks.

1. No
2. Yes

Setting smaller service area to test was my next thought/step. Will try and report back. Thanks!
