Need Advice Before Converting My SAB to a Storefront (Very Concerned About Suspension)

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice from people who have experience with Google Business Profile changes.

I originally verified my locksmith GBP back in 2016 using my home address as a Service Area Business. Since then, the profile has grown to over 1,600 reviews, ranks very well, and it's the primary source of leads for my business.

Recently, I leased a office, storefront in the same town where my original verification address was located. It has a storefront, signage, customers can walk in, and I would like to convert my SAB into a storefront listing with the address displayed.

My biggest concern is suspension.

I've seen too many stories of businesses making legitimate changes, getting suspended, going through reinstatement, and in some cases losing reviews or dealing with weeks of downtime. That would be devastating for my business. My GBP is also connected to my Local Services Ads account, so if the GBP gets suspended, my LSA stops as well. I simply can't afford that kind of downtime.

My questions are:

  • What is the safest way to make this change?
  • Is there any way to notify Google in advance that this is a legitimate move?
  • Are there any trusted professionals or agencies who specialize in handling high-value GBP changes like this?
  • Has anyone successfully converted a long-established SAB to a storefront without suspension?
I'm not trying to game the system in any way. I have a real retail location and just want to make the transition as safely as possible.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this or works with GBP at a high level.

Thank you!
