I'm really curious to know if anyone has dug deep into this topic. Some businesses only get the business video option, which can be very time consuming if you don't qualify for the bulk verification method.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Daniel,

From what I understand, the best way to get that option would be to set the business up with a domain-level email or give access to a manager with a domain-level email. Obviously, you also need a website for the business you are trying to verify as well. However, in my experience, even if you get that option and go through all the steps. They will still request that you verify the business by video.

Thanks,
Andrea

HI Andrea,

I appreciate your feedback! Yeah, I'm still getting this video option, despite me having a domain-level email that is directly tied to business and branding of the website. What strange is that I have another GBP account in where I am managing other locations from a different business with my personal email and it gives me the email option across all their locations and I am able to fully verify the locations.

As of right now, what dictates who gets that email option for verification appears to be very random.

Does having a domain-level email typically give a creator of a GBP listing an email verification option as opposed to video verification?

Based on my experience, no. I've had a domain-level email tied to the business name and would get video verification as the only options offered.

I'm just now learning that you can probably request email verification in such scenarios if use their live chat option under "Support" > "Contact us". You would have to play with the options in order for that live chat option to pop up since not all will provide that result, I would not worry if the problem that you select is related or not, that will be all sorted out once you are chatting with someone directly through the live chat.

My understanding from some of the recent interviews with Brad Wetherall is that this boils down to how much Google knows about and trusts your business - the more trustworthy signals it sees the more likely they'll offer easier verification methods. It sounds like some of those factors are creating and linking an active Google Search Console account to your domain and getting a variety of other high-quality listings through sites like Better Business Bureau.

But, like Andrea said, I've seen it offered and completed before, and still had to go through video approval anyway, so don't get too excited when you first see it. 😁
