I had one of my members as me today if their Local Service Ad might not be getting as much visibility as normal because their insurance is showing "about to expire". They are currently month to month because they are shopping new providers and don't want to commit to a long term contract yet, but they are afraid that they are being punished by Google because it's now in a state of "always about to expire".

Has anyone noticed a downturn in performance simply because the insurance is in an "about to expire" state? I have historically seen that it's more of a power switch that gets turned off only when the insurance actually expires.

Hey Nick,

While I couldn't directly attribute the pending expiration of the certificate of insurance to a performance drop due to other factors, I have seen ads in SERPs/prolist lacking the verified/screened badge/green checkmark during business hours for accounts with a pending license/insurance expiration under 30 days.

The COI had not yet expired, but Google was bumping the ad down the list, and not showing the badge.

Only what I've seen, no data to back it up.
