Filtering Questions HVAC VS Heating Contractor

Hi, we have 2 companies ( one hvac) (one heating) main category that want to move their businesses to the same building but separate offices and suites. Would filtering only happen if they have the same exact primary category or would these be filtered because of how related their services are?

it's not a category, it's a keywords thing. If they can rank for the same keyword, then they can filter each other for that keyword.
