Hi all -

Apologies if this is something that has been asked and answered; I did a few searches but couldn't find anything.

We have a client who has a small office where they can meet with clients; however, they are renovating the office so they would prefer not to have it public facing right now. That said, they have clients all over the US and will travel to meet with them several times a year, with regular remote meetings and teleconferences in between.

How would we go about creating a GBP for them? Are you allowed to have service areas that span the country? (I'm struggling to wrap my brain around how that would work within search results.) Or should we wait until they have their office renovated and tell them we can only create their profile for/target their physical office location?

Heya SabrinaB :) It's possible to have a service-area business Profile for Google Maps, BUT ... Google only permits service areas up to about a 2 hour drive from the initial business address provided (even if it is hidden). It will be easier to wait for the physical office location to be renovated and permanent business signage to be applied, then get the listing verified (most likely by video).

I had actually forgotten about the 2-hour radius; that is an excellent point. I'll let our client know.

Now I'm curious as to why they let you add entire countries ('United States,' for example) or states/provinces as the service area. Any idea?
