I've noticed that several of the GBPs I manage saw a drop in rankings last month. However, there doesn’t seem to be a clear common factor among them that would explain the decline, which leads me to suspect there may have been a change to Google’s ranking algorithm.

Is there any information available about a recent update? If so, what new guidelines or best practices should we be following to recover from the ranking drop?

Thanks!

a lot of us noticed fluctuations last month, so you're not alone. google often makes unannounced tweaks to their algorithm, which can cause these sudden drops.

right now, your best bet is to:

- double-check your gbp for accuracy and completeness (address, hours, services)
- ramp up review efforts: recent, positive reviews help massively
- boost local relevance by regularly posting local-focused content and engaging with reviews/questions.

also, keep an eye on official sources and industry forums for confirmed updates. usually, focusing on core best practices (content quality, relevance, reviews) helps bounce back quickly.

hope this helps!
