Google My Business is rejecting telephone numbers with the (844) area code.

This may not happen for long, but the moment, GMB won't allow you to enter an 844 phone number, and if you had one already, they will remove it and use your local number instead.

The solution is: use the Google My Business customer support chat or phone support and they will help you by entering it for you. Somehow, when the enter it, it is accepted.
