Is there a is a method to remove or change my 'located in' status in the GBP portal?

We manage thousands of listings that are located within larger businesses. Some of our stores have been closed but keep being reopened by Google, which we assume is because they are within a store that is still open. Is there a method that Google offers to remove the located in status? If so, where can that be adjusted?

You can do it by suggesting and edit to the listing on Google maps.

It is also possible to edit this via the API if the "located in suggestions" do not work. Suggestion definitely the first step, if that works, it is a lot simpler.
