If you have time, listen to this podcast.

I have several thoughts on this.
1. I love all of Google's updates. I am enjoying seeing low-quality websites get nuked.
2. Google sucks at comms and branding
3. I get asked all the time by clients what I can do to improve my rankings. I tell them to build their brand and sponsor local events. They never do it.
4. We need to shift away from focusing so heavily on keywords and find out what types of jobs or clients our clients want or don't want.
5. It's super easy to build a brand. Check out Nerdy Nuts. They took something as vanilla as peanut butter and created specialty peanut butter flavors. Check out Chef Reactions. He does commentary on good and bad food recipe videos. NSFW. Think of all the SEOs who build out brands, Joy Hawkins, Greg Gifford, Amy Toman, Mike Blumenthal, me, Marie Haynes, Areej, and countless others.

"sponsor local events" - can you share some examples, if you don't mind? thank you

Since hearing Wil Reynolds and Carrie Rose from BrightonSEO and Mark Williams-Cook- - I am confident brand is where we have to focus in 2025.

For our agency - I don't even focus on branding for our company but for myself. Wil Reynolds made a great point - people do not follow companies, they follow personalities. Elon Musk, Mark Cuban, etc.

For Local SEO - we don't follow their agencies or the organizations, we follow Joy Hawkins, Elizabeth Rule, Colan Nielsen. But whenever they are mentioned - it is associated with Sterling Sky. And Sterling Sky gets links from it too.
