Jump in analytics for one day

I've had a few accounts show a jump in direct traffic for one day last week.

A colleague mentioned an increase in Google Discovery but I don't see how that could be.
It wasn't a wrong UTM code, and it happened across 4 different websites. All within 2 days.

Have you heard of any weird bot attacks for one day that show up as direct traffic?

I saw the same on 24th and 25th April for some of our clients websites.
