Hey everyone, I’m relocating my business to a new state and trying to figure out the best way to handle my Google Business Profile (GBP), website, and branding without losing everything I’ve built. Hoping to get some insight from those who’ve been through this!

Option A: Start Fresh

  • Create a new Google Business Profile with the new location and branding.
  • Register a new domain name if I want a location-based URL.
  • Keep the old website live for a bit to redirect traffic and gradually shift to the new one.
  • Downsides: Losing past GBP reviews, backlinks, and SEO rankings from my existing business.

Option B: Update Everything

  • Change the business address in GBP, but risk reverification or suspension.
  • Update the phone number and NAP (Name, Address, Phone) citations across hundreds of sites.
  • Keep all existing backlinks and SEO work, but update all location-based content for the new state.
  • Downsides: A lot of manual work, and not sure if Google still ranks me well for the new area.
My biggest concern is whether it’s better to start clean with a new brand and domain or try to salvage the SEO and history I’ve built. Anyone have experience with this? What worked best for you?
Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks in advance.
