We have a new client onboarded with us. They are a Junk removal company and a home-based business. They serve the entire of New Jersey. Since they are a new business, we are creating a home-based GBP for them using the client's home address for verification. The question is, shall we use city + state in the page title and H1 of the GBP landing page or just include New Jersey? What's the best practice here?

I know for brick & mortar businesses, the standard practice is to use city + state. I just need clarity on this specific situation.

In the H1 you could just use "Serving all of New Jersey" - you don't necessarily need the city.
In the text on the page you can put "located in XXXX with clients throughout the state" or similar.

If you're not focusing on the specific city in the H1, you can leave that off and just put the state. Really it's about what the client would see when they land on the page. If they land and see "Trenton" will they make their own assumption that you work with clients in that area or that you will also go to Newark or Millville? So in those cases, it's best to just use the State.

Hi Conor! Thanks for your response! What are your thoughts on page title in this case?
 
I'd probably go with something along the lines of;

Junk Removal & Dumpster Rental in New Jersey

Something in that line. Possibly adding "services" depending if that gets traction. Possibly adding "residential" or "commercial" if those are key items. Then the various "next day" or "quick" or "fast" etc get to be played with if the client offers it.

I used both "junk removal" and "dumpster rental" as each of those gets about 180K searches/month according to ahrefs.
