Has anyone noticed unusual local ranking fluctuations recently?

Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed some unusual ranking shifts in local search results. A few businesses that were consistently in the local pack dropped, while others with fewer reviews suddenly moved up.
I’m trying to understand whether this might be related to a recent algorithm update or just normal fluctuations.
Has anyone else noticed similar changes in their local markets?

We've absolutely been seeing ranking fluctuations with client sites/competitors. More so on the organic side than the GBP side of things. However, we've seen many client competitors moving up/down in map pack also. It's been extremely tough to pinpoint why... Most that benefited didn't appear to earn it, at least by first glance. Not a large influx of recent reviews, incomplete profiles, etc. Not sure what their landing pages look like though and haven't fully dug into audits yet. Apparently ranking fluctuation reports have been very high and volatile.

Yes, just checked our Local RankFlux tool and it's showing medium to high fluctuations over the past week.

This is the longest period of time that I've personally seen this level of volatility. We've only seen this impact SERPs not the Local Pack:

Thanks for sharing that insight. It’s interesting to hear that others are seeing similar volatility across both organic and map pack results. I agree it can be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause without a deeper audit, but the fluctuations definitely seem more noticeable lately.

Thanks for sharing that thread and the perspective. It’s interesting that the volatility seems to be affecting the SERPs more than the Local Pack in your observations. I’ll check out that discussion as well, appreciate you pointing it out. These kinds of patterns can definitely provide useful signals when trying to understand broader search fluctuations.
