Hi Everyone!

Seeing if anyone has noticed a mark up in suggested edits coming from Google. Our reporting went from 2040 profiles with suggested edits in June to 4900 profiles requiring suggested edits this month.

Could be just an agency or region thing, but thought I would put some feelers out.

Thanks!

Depends edits to what.

It does look like automatic edits to payment method attributes that first showed up in 2023 (see thread here) have ramped significantly since April. They also might just have ramped asking questions to reviewers, prompting more of these edits in general.

Hey thanks for your response.

Based on our June month, where we have identified and actioned, it goes as follows.
1st is services edits
2nd is payment methods (seems like you were on the money with that)
3rd is phone number edits

Curious to see how we go at the end of this months completion as we are still recording new edits that come in and have yet to categorise them properly but was suprise to see a 140% increase to our June records.

Will continue to monitor for now 👀

Okay, my comments have to tempered with the fact I'm in Quebec, and we see somewhat different things to our English-region colleagues.

Phone number edits, in my experience, come in as a wave with every core update (I strongly suspect it's a side effect of the Core Update affecting the knowledge graph), and we just had one in early July. Usually it's my signal before the core update is actually announced, and presents as addition of secondary numbers (i.e. fax, or office vs. mobile). I dunno if seeing similar or identical numbers in different area codes is specific to Quebec or something that shows up in other areas.

Service edits are something we rarely see in Quebec outside of Google merging profiles, so I'm on more shaky ground here. A wave of merges is not unheard of during core updates, though.

There are other potential, but far more exotic possibilities. For example, maybe services that were previously not translated in Dutch have been deployed, and some of these services had already been reported as offered by clients with profiles set to English, causing them to appear as service edits when the services actually became visible in Dutch to you.

For our US clients I can attest to edits & notifications significantly increasing the last couple of months. No service edits. However, loads of payment changes/additions, a smattering of social media profile additions, and a few more hours edits than normal (guessing that's from competitors).

Oh yeah. Google definitely went ham on adding social medias too. Our agency saw a lot of it because 80% of the time our clients don't tell us about about any of their socials and we frequently don't bother to check to find them... But most regular agencies are on the ball for that so they wouldn't have seen nearly as much action on that front.
