Hi everyone. I'm interested to see if anyone else has attempted this type of address change for SAB.

Go to Google Maps > type in current service area business profile > suggest edit > location changed or moved > enter in the new address
  • Google want's images proving this (storefronts, signs, or "notices"
  • All citations are done with new address, planning to take a screen shot of a facebook post or other platforms like Google/YELP/Yellowpages etc. to prove the "move notice"
  • submit the change with an old school .edu gmail I own (15+ years old)
  • This site only shows up for the old location because of a profile merge
  • Google was suppose to transfer reviews to the new location that was verified and then delete the old SAB - didn't listen to my instructions and merged instead (kept the old profile, moved reviews from the new one)
  • Currently not ranking in map pack and struggling organically (BrightLocal citation aggregator + backlinks are fresh ~3-weeks, profile is 3mths past merge)
Honestly anything I try at this point would be better than not showing up - he's got 15 reviews. Worst case scenario it requires reverification at the new address?

Anyone have some thoughts? Thanks All!

Are you showing or hiding the address for the new listings?

showing address on citations, on the Google Business Profile the address would be hidden because it's a SAB. I've tried the "create a new profile at their new location then request a review transfer and to delete the old profile" — this is the only way I currently know how to get a SAB to rank in a new location

When I did this Google didn't listen to my instructions and merged into the old profile at the old address. I have a suspicion that there's also something on the backend of Google causing it to not rank besides this cause he doesn't even show up high on the maps in his old location and he's got one of the strongest profiles

Okay thanks for the advice! I'm just beside myself, been trying to clean this up for awhile.

If I try again, is there anyway they can confirm all other profile references have been deleted on their backend from Google Maps and Google Business Profile. Joy Hopkins had Brad Wetherall on an interview and he mentioned there were 2 backend databases. Maybe @JoyHawkins could shed light on that?

Sincere thanks again!

Jason is right. You can't move a service area business listing. It will continue to rank at the old address.

"When I did this Google didn't listen to my instructions and merged into the old profile at the old address."

This is what they do during this process, they actually move the reviews, then move the old profile so it forwards to the new one.
