How to check if a website has a KML sitemap?

Just go onto the server and check the root folder for the proper files. :) They usually are in the root folder, but read the plugin documentation to see where the file is placed.

How to check if a website has a KML sitemap?

Yeah and just to be clear, the sitemap is something different. There's the locations.kml file then there's something in the sitemap to point Google to the KML file. Personally I use a file titled geositemap.xml, but others may just add the KML file location to the regular sitemap.xml or whatever...

Critical 4 Local - Author Rank, Publisher & Author Markup - What you NEED to Know

Re: Critical 4 Local - Author Rank, Publisher & Author Markup - What you NEED to Know Just the way Google matches up the URLs, I guess. =\

Critical 4 Local - Author Rank, Publisher & Author Markup - What you NEED to Know

Re: Critical 4 Local - Author Rank, Publisher, Author Markup - What you NEED to Know Forgive me if I repeat / miss anything, as I've only read the last few posts in this thread. rel="publisher" pointing to the local page works fine for me, and the rich snippet testing tool shows the publisher...

Old G+ Business Page (Local Type) and Proper Verified G+ Local Listing

Hi folks, I have a few companies I'm working with that have an old business page that was created as a local type many moons ago, back when they weren't being prompted to be verified. These companies also have legit verified G+ Local listings, new ones. Now in the new dash, they have both...

Zombie Dupes - How Duplicate Business Listings Multiply and can Hurt You

Great share, thanks. What can we do, though, really? We can fix everything fixable, make sure the data aggregators have the right data, make sure the website is strong, continue to build quality structured and unstructured citations, and snag duplicates as soon as they appear. Beyond that, I...

Your experience with Periods, Commas and special characters in the business name?

I'll reply to my own message here LOL My other thought is that shorter is better, so perhaps with that in mind, "Company Name" is the best option. Thanks

Your experience with Periods, Commas and special characters in the business name?

G'day all, I'm hoping some of you can share your experience with business names containing a lot of periods and commas, as in a name with "Inc." For example 1) Company Name Co., Inc. - notice two periods and a comma 2) Company Name, Inc. 3) Company Name Inc 4) Company Name It has been my...

New YouTube tab on Google+ Local page

If I understand you correctly that you would re-upload the same videos on different channels, then your videos will get flagged as duplicate content, unfortunately. For the best user experience, too, you should have unique videos for each location. Here are some suggestions to get some unique...

Cool New Schema & KML Generator

Unfortunately, following this suggestion means you have to re-add the KML URL to the sitemap each time a new sitemap is generated. Using a site like WP (with numerous plugins dynamically-creating sitemaps when content is update) will make this a huge pain in the neck. I've continued to use...

Dentist bought existing practice - name and phone number change - questions

Definitely not throwing out the old domain. I want as little connection between it and the new one as possible, though. I have first hand experience with how confused Google seems to get when you have multiple domains branded to one business. It creates a massive mess. So... there are definitely...

Dentist bought existing practice - name and phone number change - questions

Thanks. Just to clarify, the old dentist is retiring, so linking to her new site / location isn't an issue. The new dentist (my client) has purchased the practice, website, phone number and all. I don't want to reuse anything, though, since I want to make sure this new dentist will not be...

Dentist bought existing practice - name and phone number change - questions

Hey all, I have a situation I have never come across before, and I want to make sure I'm being as careful as possible: I have a dentist that decided to start her new practice by purchasing an existing practice. The existing practice is well established online with plenty of citations and a...
