Address Change - Same Name

I have a client with a GMB. It's a partnership, and one partner bought out the other and now is the sole owner of the business. They are moving down the street.

What is the best approach to the the address changed without a big ordeal?

Update your citations before updating the GBP address. Typically, Google will accept the address change if it's not too far from the original address. Make sure all the paperwork is updated with the new address, Secretary of State, EIN, and anything else you have in case you get suspended or have to do a video verification.

You could also use suggestions after updating citations, and especially after updating the webpage linked to the GBP. (I work in Quebec though, so we have a little more success with this stuff)
