Can't remove GBP Gen AI description to add our own? Am I missing something?

A GBP had a Gen AI description so I added our own updated the profile but after a week it hasn't updated. I went back into the GBP and the description we created still shows in the GBP back-end but not on the live listing.

Am I missing a step or is this some kind of bug?

I am still hoping it is a bug because I just changed another GBP Gen AI description amd it starting showing the next day.

Thank Jason for chiming in. Now I have to go back to my admin and see if what he told me about the Gen AI description changing was true.

Just to confirm when the GBP Gen AI description is used by Google you are locked out of ever changing it to something else?

That's correct. Just like AI Overviews, you can only hope to influence it. You have no direct control over whether it shows up and what it says.

So is the only way around this to add your own GBP description before Google generates an AI description. Basically adding it as soon as you create a new GBP account?

There's no way around it. My wife's had a GBP for 10+ years and Google now shows an AI description of its own. Fortunately, their version is pretty similar to my original.
