Hi,


I’ve received an email from Local Guides Support confirming an update in Google’s terms regarding the use of the same email for both the Local Guides program and Google Business Profile (GBP) management.


It’s no longer considered a violation

Previously, this issue could cause a GBP suspension and result in your email being removed from the Local Guides program as a penalty.

Because I noticed my profile on Google Maps has the Local Guides program badge, I got worried.

Actually, I have a bad history with this issue. Before, they suspended profiles because being a Local Guide and managing a business at the same time was not allowed.


So now we don’t need to worry.
 
Wow, I had no idea you couldn’t do this. I’ve used my same Gmail address that I got back at the beginning when it was invitation only for my personal Google Maps account in which I am a local guide and also for my business’s Google business profile. I never received any type of warning out in the open, I hope it wasn’t holding me back in rankings or any other way
 
Same as Glass - this is news to me, too. I use the same email for Google Business Profile management for clients as well as my Local Guide / personal Google Map account. Good to know it's not a problem anymore... 😅😨

I was a local guide and was managing Google Business Profiles. I don’t do this any more and it’s not recommended.
So now we don’t need to worry.
