Let me provide some context. I manage the profile of a doctor who works between US and Mexico, near the border. A few months ago, I noticed something strange: on my phone (I live in Europe), I saw the business profile picture of another doctor in the same specialty and city. It seemed odd and obviously something was wrong. The profile showed a photo from another medical website, but it wasn’t the correct one.

This issue first appeared on my phone a few months ago, but recently I noticed the same photo of this other doctor now appears as the profile picture on the Google Business Profile (GBP) when viewed on my computer. I’ve checked the uploaded photos, and no one has added a new image or made changes. I’ve also asked other people to look up the main doctor profile in the city, and they see the correct profile I originally set up. But here in Europe, I see something different. Of course i reported this, and google with no a signal about it.

What could be causing this? Does anyone have any insight into what might be happening?

Yes, it’s a shame because having it displayed like that in Europe doesn’t really matter, but obviously, if someone comes across it and sees that photograph, it’s a bit strange and might make the person think it’s not a real business. But yes, it’s a bit ugly. However, as you mentioned, the important thing is that at the local level or where it’s important to rank, the photograph does appear correctly. Still, it’s odd when you’re editing the profile, and suddenly, a photo of someone else appears, even a competitor. Google never fix anything :( Thanks for the update Stefan!
