Hi everyone, I've been searching for more information about this online but haven’t had much luck, so I thought I'd ask here.

I understand that different Google Business Profile (GBP) primary categories can unlock different attributes, and I think it's really important to know which primary category triggers which attributes. For example, we have a client who is a lawyer. When we used "Legal Services" as the primary category, there wasn't an option for "Offers online appointments." But when we switched the primary category to "Lawyer," that option appeared, which is super helpful since most of his appointments are online.

We also had a hotel client that didn’t have a "Services" section until we added "Villa" as a secondary category. Again, this was really important for them.

So, I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction—maybe there's a list out there that shows which attributes are linked to which categories? I don't want to keep changing the categories to figure this out since that might trigger a re-verification, and I don’t want to take that risk.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I've never seen a guide on this, but I would love to also. It would greatly help with dealing with ghost edits.

These type of lists would be outdated fast. Google constantly adds and removes attributes. We did a full analysis on all the attributes per category for each country, and wrote a little blog post on it. It was so much, it barely made sense to write something sensible on it. Fun little fact: Irish Pubs in France had the most attributes of any category/country combination.

@Alexandros - I let AI loose on the travel related categories. See sheet below for the result. Might help you get some inspiration what categories would be worth adding as secondary ones:

Pro tip - be careful not to add anythign that is completely irrelevant. It might get you suspended.

@Alexandros - First, I'd like to highlight something you wrote: "We also had a hotel client that didn’t have a "Services" section until we added "Villa" as a secondary category."

I think there's uncertainty about whether it's only the primary category that brings features to a profile. I think your sentence answers that question nicely!

Next, here's an alternative to having a complete list of attributes (although that would be nice!). I've taken some heat in this forum for amping up the Pleper extension for Chrome, but I'm going to do it again. It's just that good! (And no, I'm not getting paid to say that.)

The extension can show you the attributes on a profile. So, look at your client's competitors' attributes and categories. It's not quite as easy as a complete list, but it will likely help you find category/attribute relationships that might be helpful for your clients.

Also, Jepto's profile association tool include a list of attributes by category, though I'm not sure if it fails to be complete or there's an actual difference in services between US and Quebec. For dentists, it has no payment options listed whatsoever, even though I plainly see it and recently saw a new one (well, new for French in Quebec, at least!).
