I am updating services on a GBP and wanted to ask the community what the current recommendation is for adding keyword variations- and what to do if you have multiple variations that you know through extensive analysis that customers actually use? Does adding all of they variations help with ranking the GBP?

example: if the business offers maternity photography, should you add:

maternity photographer
maternity photography
maternity photos
maternity pics
maternity pictures
maternity portraits
maternity photoshoot

pregnancy photographer
pregnancy photography
pregnancy photos
pregnancy pics
pregnancy pictures
pregnancy portraits
pregnancy photoshoot

outdoor maternity photographer
outdoor maternity photography
outdoor maternity photos
outdoor maternity pics
outdoor maternity pictures
outdoor maternity portraits
outdoor maternity photoshoot

studio maternity photographer
studio maternity photography
studio maternity photos
studio maternity pics
studio maternity pictures
studio maternity portraits
studio maternity photoshoot

Personally I would, but It's worth noting that for reasons unique to us we don't usually add stuff like descriptions and pricing info.

Description and price do not affect ranking, so if you include anything like that, pick the formulation you want to use as the "default" and only add a description/price to that.

Thank you so much for the reply! Follow up question....if this GBP has 1 primary category (photographer) and 3 secondary categories (portrait studio, photography studio, photography service)....would you add all 28 of these custom service variations to ALL 4 categories? or just add to the primary category?

I'd be wary of doing this. It looks very spammy in the same way adding all those keywords to your website looks spammy to both Google and your visitors. And I bet you could find hundreds more potential keywords - just adding 'near me' to all of those gives you 56.

Having the primary categories makes sense. Google understands keyword variants and can match search intent to your listing.

As an aside, what analysis did you do. Google jealously guards their search data and just provides a few clues in GSC.

You cannot have the exact same service under more than one category. Google will not save it, so that question is moot.

I have asked in this forum before, but no one knows whether it makes a difference to put custom services under your main category or secondary categories.
