How does this affect local search marketing ? Will we still be able to reach a large enough share of customers via Map Pack, local and organic SEO?

Google AI Mode Integrates With Home Services Booking

Google has added home services booking integration within AI Mode. Google has partnered with partners like Angi Home, Thumbtack, Housecall, and GetJobber and will add ServiceTitan soon. It works as expected, Google adds booking buttons to the home services listing within the AI Mode results.

Robby Stein from Google announced this on X and wrote, "Today, we’re making it even easier to research & book home services with direct links in AI Mode."

Contractor here (general and electrical, three counties in Washington), so here's how this looks from the business side.
The partner list says a lot. Angi and Thumbtack are lead marketplaces, while Housecall Pro, Jobber and ServiceTitan are the scheduling software contractors already run their day on. If the booking button runs through whatever software a contractor already uses, the businesses that keep online scheduling turned on get an extra door into AI Mode that the rest don't.
But "booking" means different things by job size. A drain clog or an outlet repair can be booked into a time slot. A roof, a kitchen or a deck can't; what the homeowner is really booking is a site visit and an estimate. For those I'd expect people to keep comparing contractors, and the Map Pack, reviews and the website still do the work of getting picked.
The question I'd want answered before reacting: when a homeowner taps the button, does the booking land in the contractor's own calendar, or in the marketplace's flow where several contractors get the same lead? That decides whether it's a new channel or just Angi with a different entry point.

I haven't seen a share number for AI Mode bookings yet, so I'd measure it in your own market. Search a client's main job in AI Mode the way a homeowner would, town included, a few times over a week. Note whose listing carries the booking button and whether the Map Pack shows the same businesses. If they differ, your question is still open for that client.
