Google My Business = Listing In Google Maps?

I think the answer to this question is "yes." But I think having a GMB account results in that business being listed in Google Maps.

Correct me if I'm wrong so I can fix things.

GMB is a platform Google has for business owners to manage their listing. The listing could exist already on Google Maps but you would essentially be verifying it and controlling the information better.
