GPSI queries within URLs: Why?

From time to time, I'll see this type of URL in Google Analytics, /?gpsi-call-1669651878.1799=. It seems to be a Google Page Speed Insights thing, but not sure where they come from or why they exist. Any insights on this?

I'm COMPELETELY guessing here - because I can't replicate this - BUT - if you don't have the setting ticked to exclude bot traffic - could this be googlebot hitting the site to do a Page Speed test?
