Hello everybody! Our client, a personal injury and family law attorney, has been receiving multiple 1-star reviews that are very likely fake. He has been reporting them to Google, but the spamming won't stop. He has also told me he suspects this to be a campaign from an opposing party and is in the process of involving another attorney for potential legal steps. In the meantime, is there anything that we, from an SEO perspective, could do for damage control?

Nope. Nothing you can do except keep reporting. You could take down the GPP so the reviews are hidden and focus on the ranking the website. Also consider alternate marketing methods, billboards can work as can advertising.

Because Google offers free tools people become blind to the many other channels. In my case very few of my clients come from any Google products.
