Hey everyone, I'm looking for someone to review a couple of the websites we work and do an audit for us. Separate from GBP, it feels like over the last 2 months, our sites are taking a massive hit. Can't tell if its an issue with our websites or if its an issue with our websites or just normal algo updates that we haven't adapted to.

Thanks for the help in advance!

You're awesome! First one is longbranchtrees.com. A lot of our sites impressions have dropped way down in google site console (I assumed it was the 100 results update), but i'm seeing our rankings dropping as well.

Just looking at longbranchtrees.com for now.

The King of Marketing isn't doing you any favours. Dreadful code, poor site structures and weak repeating content. All of which contribute to your falling ranking.

The only reason anyone will be on your site is because they need some tree work. This means on the homepage all you need to do is show me what you can do. Right now you have a load of waffle. I have to scroll down to see your services and then it just has a bunch of random icons and titles. What do I get with a Tree Service? surely tree removal and trimming are tree services? Where are the pictures? Where are the client stories?

On each of the service pages we get a paragraph of waffle and then the same repeated content. Nothing useful for Google to index.

You have a number of blog posts but again it's all repeated content.

Look carefully at the 6 step process on your service pages. Notice anything strange?

And on the service area pages it's all the same map. On each area it's the same number. And you have a gmail email address. Looks like you have just picked 6 areas at random and added the map to your site.

Start telling stories. Show before and after. Explain what you did for the client, how long it took, anything interesting that happens, how their view of the ocean improved or whatever. But lots of pictures.

And most importantly, escape the clutches of The King of Marketing.

There is more but that will do for now.

I appreciate your direct feedback. If I'm understanding correctly, 90% of the issues are content related? Can you be more specific on the dreadful code and poor site structures?

That's correct - fixing the content will make a big difference.

One of the things Google considers when ranking a page is performance. You can see how your site performs here:

https://pagespeed.web.dev/analysis/https-longbranchtrees-com/7be322exqo?form_factor=mobile

Note that Google considers mobile first - desktop is almost irrelevant.

Because of the poor coding your performance is way below expectations. There are many technical reasons for this but moving to a better platform will easily improve your performance score.

The site structure is about how people navigate the site.

For example: if I land on the Tree Services page all I get is a contact us link which means I have to call and hope you aren't up a tree. There are no links to examples of your work or other services that might be more applicable to my needs. There is no contact form - just a 'send us a text' thing.

What you should have is a list of each service you offer - there are probably dozens of them. Each would link to a separate page when you flesh out the details. On this page would be links to posts where you can upload pictures and tell the story. Each of these posts would be categorized by service and location. They would link back to the applicable higher level pages. If you have a review for that job then it needs to be on the page.

You have lots of images on your SM pages that should be on the site. What was this one all about:

Where was that? What did you have to do? How long did it take? Did you need a crane? What did the property look like afterwards? did it need landscaping? Tell me stories. People like stories.

Appreciate your help on this again. We do have service pages for everything we offer, tree service, tree trimming, tree removal... thats about the majority of what we offer. I can certainly add more details on these pages to improve it. And remove duplicate content.

For the images and stories, is that to improve conversion rates? Or is that for SEO? Since we switched to this new site, our conversion rates on ads are consistently 8-12%. But our SEO ranking has been what has hurt us the most. Just trying to narrow down on which problem I'm solving, conversions or SEO, and because I clearly have no clue what i'm doing, just trying to understand how the same website would degrade over 4 months. Thanks again!

Isn't tree trimming or tree removal just different type of tree service? Do you lift crowns, pollarding, dead wood clearing, tree planting, pruning, crown thining, topping, mulching, pest and disease control?

List everything! And have pages for everything!

SEO on this new site is pants. The whole site is wrong. Sorry to be so blunt but the company who built the site (and I assume host it) are not doing you any favours. You need to find someone else to build you a site.

And conversion on ads should be far higher. An old client of mine could easily convert 60% from his adverts. If you don't have dedicated landing pages from your adverts you will never do as well as you could.

Until you get a new site built on an SEO friendly platform you will continue to struggle.

I appreciate it as obviously i'm not coming to you saying my site is amazing. I'm humbly asking for help and really taking one on the chin here.

I've let this company know of the issues and am trying to get more specific than telling them that their site is pants and the home page is just waffle.... doesn't really help my situation just makes me want to take a long walk off a short bridge.

Do you have some example of sites you think do this exceptionally well?
I'm looking at some of the websites ranked higher than me and here is a good example:
https://www.tampabayarborist.com/

Has better content. Does not have service specific pages (only 4 pages total). Has better pictures. No case studies. No before and afters. Doesn't even have reviews.
