Hey guys,

I'm looking at some different citation tools (mostly for analysis & identifying duplicates/areas to fix), and stumbled across synup.com. Has anyone had any experience using this tool? What are some opinions? There's not a lot out there about it, so I want to get some expert opinions before I invest the time in testing.

If no one has used it, then I guess i'll be the guinea pig and report back :p

Looks cool. I tried that today for one of my clients. IMO $1.50 for fixing incorrect citation or adding new one is not bad. Beside using that tool you have the power to select which sites do you want your business to be listed. Personally I dont like some of those sites they show on the free account. Theres much better list than that.

The tools also have rank checker but don't have time to check if its accurate. It also shows the business reviews on specific site which is great too.

Hello,
I'd like to bump this thread rather than create a new one as I'm interested in this as well. I've been seeing their name pop up more and more frequently so I'm looking for some good reviews. I'll probably try them out either way since it's very affordable.

Has anyone used their services?
Thanks!

Ashwin the owner is a member here. I can ping him if you guys have any questions specifically for him? But it sounds like you just want feedback from others that have tried it?

I'd also like a review of this tool myself. Stumbled on them awhile ago and still very interested, just haven't had time to check them out yet.

If my memory serves me correct, they manually build listings and even provide user/pass information which can be a nice alternative to Yext where it's 1 business description to rule them all.

So if you'd like to have some variations amongst your citations, Synup is an affordable alternative to Yext.

I have been using the free portion of the tool for the last few months.

It is a great tool for helping find duplicates on many of the citation sites.
I am really just using this piece and it is great for finding duplicates during the cleanup process. It's not perfect, but for that piece of the puzzle, it works well.

I've been a paid member ($2 per month) for a month or two after first learning about it here. I've done a few trial orders for fixing bad NAP or merging duplicate listings. So far, I'd say the jury is still out because the results aren't yet showing up.

I'd say it's less likely than more likely to work out, though. Its analysis of our citations and whether or not our sites have citations aren't very accurate.

The question you asked is like asking "is there any program that can edit my designed logo automatically and give me a better version" - Well you can always use Photoshop to edit but it will not do the job automatically you still have to input your needs and control everything.

- Synup, White spark, YEXT, MOZ new arrival "moz local" , i have tested all, none give you the 100% results. For example moz local might show you an error on Yelp, but in reality you do not have that listing error, or it could show your client business is not listed in hotfrog while there is a nice clean listing. Analyzing and exploring Search engines and directories are not that easy and none of the programs above can do the job.

I suggest you keep searching for incorrect info manually, by typing in the name of business, the variation of business name, address, phone number. It will take time!
Linda Buquet has a nice guideline on how to search and indicate local cations.
The programs above cannot replace the manual search power where you implement keyword and advanced search operators.:)

These guys came up on my radar today. I use, and am happy with, Yext. But always looking for other options since depending upon the needs of the client some tools might be better than others.

Any other experiences to share.

Thanks.

Yext is monopolizing the market, while does not give complete support to any other solution using their platform such as express update. They were in the Radar long time and others are probably too lazy or not having interest in spending a time to come up with an alternative.

My personal opinion is no one has as robust a system as Yext's (currently), so it makes sense they've got the market cornered (for now). I suspect the work Yext has done with citation sources regarding API integration should pave the way for others to start stealing their market share.

Features like Yext's duplicate suppression feature really reduces labor when dealing with duplicates (especially for us large agencies), but they get you on the hook with this feature because when you stop paying them all the suppression come back, which is a trade-off of the manual alternative.

I had a great conversation with their CEO Ash and was all set to sign up. But then he went AWOL on me. I've sent a few emails and a voicemail but no response in almost two weeks. Sad as I think they have a pretty good platform.

I am feeling good about Synup. I opted to pay the $2/mo for now to get things organized for my new optometry practice. While it's too early to see the results of the updates (many take 3-4 weeks they say) I can tell that the fixes are in the works.

In order to spend our money ($1.50 per fix) on registries that count, I cross referenced with this list of key citation sites:

Top 50 local citation sites - US, UK, Canada & Australia - BrightLocal

The Synup deal seems WAY more economical than the deal YahooLocal was offering.
Good luck people. Hope it works for you, Mark Cannon, OD

Good to hear.

It's been a struggle to connect with them but I'm hoping to get started this week with at least a test or two.

As for comparing them to Yahoo's service (which is white labeled Yext), it's definitely apples and oranges.

Synup is doing straight citations, which are helpful. Yext/Yahoo Local is providing quite a bit more depending upon your package. Which is best for a particular business obviously depends upon needs.

Here is my opinion about Synup, I wish they had a member here just like white spark etc.. go answer some of the questions about their platform and its features. However i got the chance to analyze their service here is my true opinion, again more has to be analyzed.

While the platform seems to be stunning it lacks great features for example you can not submit your business to all of the directories from their portal. Citysearch is the biggest lack, they do not support listing businesses into the directory.

You might Pay for a citation, a directory that has been already discontinued providing service. They have listed one particular listing for Map Muse, while it says waiting for approval i am not sure it will be verified. They sent me an email showing a picture of a form which needs to be completed before submitting the business, that itself does not mean I got the approval from the directory, that payment of 1.5 dollar can be a complete waste!

About Yext, they are not leading company unfortunately they just have exclusive possession on most of directories, this does not make them the best solution. Again this might be wrong or right, but still even with having their service you might find duplicates plus when you stop using them after a year you get the same wrong citations and wrong info, and sometimes even worse.

SEO MOZ local "Still Growing" - First time i tested this platform they had Bugs, they have changed since a year ago, so they might doing better now? - I would like to see someone's feedback on their platform. Anybody?

For now Whitespark is going to be my No 1 Tool. Not to forget bright local. Yet i believe Yext packages are too expensive.

* Again everything i said is based on my own experience. So folks here are welcome to share their thoughts as well*

Hey Mark,

Glad to hear you're enjoying Synup.

Have you heard of Moz Local? It seems like you're a pretty knowledgeable business owner who is interested in their internet presence so I would encourage you to check it out.

Moz Local distributes your listing to the 4 major data aggregators who then blast your information out to hundreds of different search directories.

You can learn more at moz.com/local and if you have any questions about it, I would be more than happy to give you the answers that I have.

We always recommend every local business owner sign up for Moz Local as one of the first steps.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Moz local can distribute your data to the big 4, but if there's a duplicate or incorrect listing, you still gotta take care of that.

Plus, as appropriate, you still gotta take care of the phone verification, right?
