New Scam? GBP User asked $199.99 to unlock account

Hi,

Somenone just posted this on the Google Business Profile forum, explaining that he/she had a call, claiming to be Google, asking for 199$ to "unlock" the account.

Have you heard of this kind of scam before? I'm afraid that with Google taking so long to reinstate businesses these kind of scams become more and more common.

Not a new scam at all.

Certainly not new, but maybe more prevalent like you suggest. At least this person was smart enough to ask the forum and not pay the scammer!
