I am trying to verify a new GBP for our client by telephone. Problem is that the phone number listed in the GBP (which is automatically used for the verification call) is forwarded to the company's central phone. It is NOT (easily) possible to change that routing, as it is somehow hard-coded in the customer's phone system 🤷‍♂️

I have started the call three times already but nothing happens. Could it be that Google stops the verification call when it realizes that the call is being forwarded?

Any idea on how to proceed? I am afraid that the GBP might get suspended or that telephone verification will no longer be available.

Are there other verification options?

Also, you can get in touch with Google about verification issues via this form:

Make sure to check the box that states you want help with verification.

The only other verification option is video and I was really hoping to avoid that. But by now that is the only option left, because we messed up the telephone verification.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide all the information requested by Google in this form. Therefore I don't see any way to verify this location 🤷‍♂️
What do you think about creating another profile and hopefully get the telephone option again?

What about the telephone verification? Do you think Google stops the call when they realize it is being forwarded to a different number? Would be good to know for when they open new locations in the future.

As far as I know they wouldn't stop the call.
