I had a request come in from one of our account executives that one of their clients locations was closing and wanted to merge the reviews with their open location that wasnt too far away. I didnt think Google would allow this but I opened a ticket and they said they would

Welp. When they did this we lost about 200 reviews. Only about 90 reviews came over. When I spoke to support they had to escalate this to a specialist. Specialist came back and basically said--too bad so sad. We are only merging over about 90 of the reviews

I tried opening a new ticket to no avail. They said their decision was final and thats it.

Now I reallllllly think this merge never should have happened IMHO because what would stop any business from just doing this(moving reviews over to another profile when not a true duplicate). But that being said---do I have any recourse here. I did post on the Google forums but just want to get some feedback here.

You are correct; this merger should have never taken place. Google won't merge two GBPs verified at two separate addresses. Do you have documentation showing the missing reviews? If you do, post for help in the forum.

This is exactly what I told the AE. "I am almost positive this isnt allowed but Ill ask". But Google did it anyways and then messes everything up. Any idea of what we can do ? I dont know if we have any documentation of how the profile looked with all of the reviews before. Thats one problem.

The client will either need to take screenshots of the review notifications or forward them to you. They could also contact their clients and ask them to update their reviews.

I recently moved reviews from one location over to another. The business moved but for a time was operating at two locations. When they finally closed the original location I was able to move half the reviews over. Not all moved over but I was happy to have get whatever amount was moved.

As long as the business is owned and operated by the same owner and is under the same domain with the same category, Google will transfer the reviews.

i am at a loss. I got nowhere with support and twice I have posted on Google forum and both posts got removed. At first I thought it was bc I gave the ticket number in my first post. So I reposted without any details and still got removed

@Jason Brown @ElizabethRule ANy idea why Google would remove a post like this below from their help forums? I am at a loss here and the client is not a happy camper that they lost 200 reviews obviously
