In a niche dominated by huge sites like realtor.com zillow.com trulia.com

I don't see a lot of local sites in the six pack. And in most city's I have looked there is no six pack listed for a "City Name Real Estate" search.

Is this because the national sites are just to big and take over? Or are a lot of people just missing a great opportunity to have a local site rank with the big boys?

Has anyone had any luck with this?

Thanks
Stefan

Thanks MichaelJ,

That clears it up. And for a moment I really thought I found something.

I work specifically in the real estate space, and also have a bit of insight I can share here: What's The New Pecking Order For Local SEO? A Response To Google's Pigeon Update.

While it has been a pretty dramatic shift since Pigeon dropped on us, the people who have continued to focus on growing their brand and also maintaining strong presence/reviews on the major aggregators (Yelp, Zillow etc) are still doing quite well.
