Regarding LocalU in Santa Monica next week: Where are some good alternate hotels?

The recommended hotel, the Marriott Courtyard, costs almost $300 a night with all the extra junk charges added, like parking. Yikes!

Does anyone else who is going have a good alternate, more economical, suggestion?
