Hi everyone,

I have a quick question regarding a client who is acquiring a construction company. We plan to rename their existing Google Business Profile (GBP) and redirect the homepage to the contractor's page on our client's site.

Since I haven't done this in a while, I want to verify two things:
  1. Is verifying the business account the only step required after requesting a name change?
  2. Has anyone experienced issues or complications with this process?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I would redirect the homepage to the contractor's page on your client's site first, and then change the name on the GBP after Google has indexed the redirect. This will help Google understand that the old business is now owned by your client's business.

Google doesn't usually make a business reverify after an edit to the name, but they could change the name back to the original if they don't trust the edit. The domain redirect should help this.
